Dentist Martha Anne Carr, D.D.S.

Dr. Carr taught dentistry in the clinical setting of OU College of Dentistry, and at LSU School of Dentistry, and also in a lecture setting at Rose State College in Oklahoma teaching pathology to dental hygiene students. In Oklahoma, Dr. Carr had the difficult honor of helping at the Medical Examiner’s office after the devastating terrorist attack that occurred at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building – The Oklahoma City Bombing in April of 1995. The dental team was instrumental in providing victim identification in concert with the FBI to help families get closure and peace. It brought to light the importance of good dental records and a community coming together in tragedy.

Professionally, Dr. Carr has been active in various organizations over the years such as American Association of Women Dentists, Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, Oklahoma Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, Northlake Dental Association, Krewe of Dental Review Study Club, Lake Pontchartrain Study Club, Omicron Kappa Upsilon and other affiliations. Within the AAWD, Dr. Carr served for years as the District XII Trustee, followed by becoming the Editor of the Chronicle which is a newsletter that appeared in the national publication, Woman Dentist Journal, and then Secretary of AAWD before taking time out for her family.

Martha Carr was born in Washington, DC, lived in Roswell, New Mexico, then in Kansas, and Oklahoma before relocating to Mandeville, Louisiana in 1996. She married a “local boy” from Covington, named Jeff Falkenstein. The Falkenstein family has a wonderful Northshore history including Falkenstein’s Bakery which many folks still reminisce about. Martha and Jeff are the proud parents of Cecilia and Elise and Gabriella. Dr. Carr also has an “I Do” son she is very proud of named Aaron. Aaron and his lovely wife, Tyler have given them their first grandbabies, two beautiful girls. Jeff and Martha LOVES music and has played in various bands, as well as in the Contemporary Church Choir. Jeff and the children have performed in various plays and musicals, and Elise in particular has a distinct love for musical theater. The family is active in extracurriculars and hobbies of playing music, singing, songwriting, bowling (NOBODY beats Gabby), swimming, going to the beach, playing games, and much more. Music jam sessions are their happy place. Dr. Carr is very proud of her family and loves to share about them and share stories of the current happenings. The office with its Spanish Colonial architecture has a beautiful story in itself which will be shared in other ways, but the location and the practice have been a dream come true for Martha. It has a history all its own with intentional aspects that makes it home. It was opened in January of 2017. Please enjoy it with us.

Her smile is always something she has been complimented on and she shares it freely and BIG, and she wants everyone to be happy and healthy in their own smiles. One of her favorite phrases for her team is, “We are in the SMILE Business.” She means it.
